Artemis ARC Receives VA Contract to Support Pilot Making Veterans’ Medications Safer
Artemis ARC has received a three-year, $2 million contract to deliver project management support for the Veterans Health Administration’s Office of Discovery, Education and Affiliate Networks (DEAN). DEAN leads many of VHA’s emerging healthcare programs, many tied directly to leadership priorities for improving access, outcomes and service for Veterans.
The work begins with the Polypharmacy Pilot Project, an initiative that uses decision support software to review a Veteran’s full list of medications, flag potential interactions and suggest safer alternatives. Many Veterans manage several prescriptions from more than one provider, and every added medication raises the chance of harmful interaction. Tools that catch those risks early are a growing priority across health systems, and the project management behind them often determines how quickly they reach patients. VA’s tool has been built into existing clinical systems and is currently being tested in phases, including site training and a feasibility pilot to a broader clinical pilot across VA medical centers. The Artemis team will manage schedules, track risks and decisions, coordinate clinical, technical and operational stakeholders, and keep leadership informed as the live pilot moves forward.
“This is the kind of innovation that makes a real difference in a Veteran’s day-to-day care,” said Leigh Starr, Executive Vice President of Health Services at Artemis ARC. “The software associated with the Polypharmacy Pilot gives clinicians a clearer picture of each Veteran’s medications and safer options to consider. Our team is here to help that good work take root and ultimately reach more Veterans.”
The contract is built to grow with DEAN’s priorities. Beyond the pilot, Artemis will maintain a portfolio tracker covering every active DEAN-supported project, giving senior leaders one consolidated view of status, milestones, risks and funding. As new initiatives emerge, the team will scope and stand-up support quickly. That mix of steady portfolio oversight and on-demand support lets DEAN move from one priority to the next without starting over each time, while leaders keep a clear line of sight across every project in motion.
This new opportunity to support VHA deepens Artemis ARC’s support of VHA transformation and adds a patient safety priority to its federal health portfolio. The task order was awarded to Arrow ARC, a joint venture between Artemis ARC and Aptive, under the Integrated Healthcare Transformation 2.0 Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract.
